Coaching Development

The Rochester Edge is dedicated to not only developing our players, but our coaches as well. Please read the letter from Rob Sedia of NewEdge Hockey and how he is working with our coaches at all levels.

Dear Rochester EDGE Girls Hockey Parents & Players,
My name is Rob Sedia, I am a Professional Skating & Skills Coach and the founder of NewEdge Hockey Development Academy. Over the past 15 years of professional experience, I have been very fortunate to train many NHL players, NCAA Dl/D3 (men and women) players, USHL, OHL, NAHL players, and thousands of youth hockey players both boys and girls. Along the way I have formed relationships with some amazing hockey coaches and trainers at all levels of the game from the NHL to youth hockey. Collaborating with, learning from, and growing with these great coaches and trainers has afforded me some amazing opportunities as a professional in this industry. One of which has been traveling to different hockey organizations in North America to help with the development of their players and coaches.
I was honored when the Rochester EDGE Girls Hockey Organization reached out to me and asked if I would present the 3WC Development Model to their coaches and board of directors. The 3WC Development Model is a culmination of the most updated and modern hockey player and coach development materials, theories, drills, videos, and content gathered from the best performing hockey organizations in North America combined with our own very modern and proven methods. The model strengths the practice to game relationship while helping the players connect the dots between skills, tactical play, and concepts/strategies. What we have found from this approach is that actual hockey IQ is greatly enhanced. The 3WC platform now allows coaches to log in to their team’s portal and manage every aspect of the team’s development as well as communicate this information instantly to the parents and the players. As a result, coaches spend less time teaching hockey drills and more time teaching hockey. The most exciting part of the 3WC Development Model is that is continues to improve and never sits static.
Your leaders, Philip Oettinger, Earl Rogalski, and Tom Wescott along with all EDGE coaches and staff have made an incredible commitment to player development and experience. The Rochester EDGE Girls Hockey Organization has set themselves apart from many other youth hockey organizations in the region. I am very excited and honored to be a piece of the puzzle and assist the EDGE players and coaches with continued development.
Congratulations on your choice to be with this organization.

Sincerely,

Rob Sedia
